Life and Times of Cole Plaster

Cole took his first flight two weeks ago to D.C. We stayed with Mel and Jason for two nights and then drove to Fairfax for Morgan and Tappan’s wedding. We stayed two nights at Dave Vazzana’s beautiful home in Middleburg where Cole met his first baby. We then traveled to Charleston and spent three nights with Lisa and Sophie. Then one night in Atlanta with Brittany and John and finally to Sewanee to attend Jacquelyn and Jimmy’s wedding. In Sewanee, we stayed in a professor’s house with the Bresnahan/Doolittle clan. A good time was had by all. And we got to spend some time with Carolyn and David, which was an added bonus!

Cole was a great traveler and only got slightly fussy on the two flights, each of which were over four hours. On a few days, he spent many hours in his car seat and didn’t complain all that much. We hope that he’s this good when he hits the toddler stage!

Our next stop was Charleston to stay with Lisa and Sophie. Lisa’s friend Anna was visiting too.

One final pic before we head back to Las Vegas. Sophie, Pop and Ma Di’s pup, served as a stand-in for Lucy.

Cole saw Dr. Dushman last Friday who claimed several times that Cole is “perfect,” which we loved hearing. If Cole is perfect in any way it is his temperament. He is almost always happy and smiling, and when he’s fussy, he is either hungry or tired. Cole now weighs 14 lbs 5 oz, which falls a little under the 50th percentile. He is 25.5 inches tall, falling in the 75th percentile. (He has grown almost 1.5 inches each month since he was born.) No one in the family is tall except Richard. It’d be great if some of that height rubbed off on Cole.

Hanging in his room. Cole has been rolling over from his front to his back since he was a few weeks old. Last week was the first time he rolled over from his back to his stomach, and Aunt Jillian and Azurde were witnesses. He finally figured out how to get his shoulder out of the way.

Cole is really beginning to be aware of his surroundings. He’s very observant and likes to look all around when we go on walks around the neighborhood. When I get up from sitting with him on the couch, he’ll sometimes watch me walk across the room. Brian thinks he just found his legs because he was staring at them and touching them like he hadn’t noticed them before.

Cole is also very sociable. He loves it when people pay attention to him. On the other hand, if he doesn’t feel like he’s part of the action, he sometimes gets fussy. When we eat dinner, we now sit him in his chair on top of the table, and he is very entertained by watching us eat. The joke is on him though because he is the entertainment!
