We spent this Halloween trick or treating instead of packing Cole off to the condo with his grandparents while we saw three nights of Phish. While Coleman loved spending last Halloween in L.A., we loved spending this year with him and Gabby. Seeing them in costume was awesome, but the best part was hearing Cole say “trick or treat” with his sweet little voice.
This morning, we went to our first parent/teacher conference and received Coleman’s first report card. What a trip! It’s really interesting to have other adults spend lots of time with Coleman and then hear their opinions about how he’s progressing. One a scale of 0 to 4, Cole earned 21 2s (”developing”), 11 2+, and 8 3s (”demonstrates consistently”). I’m pretty sure there’s no grade inflation at the Meadows! Overall, his teachers commented that he’s a very happy boy and popular with the girls. Now that we know what we need to work on with him, we can try to move those 3s to 4s (”exceeds expectations”) by the end of the school year. We need to work on his lower case letters and his writing and drawing skills. Also, he’ll learn how to “use glue with reasonable accuracy” if it kills me!

We took Coleman to a party Saturday night to benefit the Lied Animal Foundation. His 5-year old friend Jaime was there, and he had a blast running around and dancing with her. Cole was Plex and Brian was DJ Lance from Yo Gabba Gabba, and I was a disco dancer.

Gabby was pretty bummed when we left her at home. This picture was taken right before the meltdown.

Coleman gets a ride from house to house to conserve energy for trick or treating.

On to the next house. When Brian was a kid, he was all about the loot. We only lasted an hour this year, but when the kids have some stamina and don’t go to bed before 8:00, I’ll bet we’ll need a bigger bag for candy.

We took a walk around the neighborhood a few weekends ago. Cole likes for Gabby to hold his hand. She usually tries to pull her hand away.

Coleman’s favorite day is Saturday because he gets to watch TV. It’s not like he doesn’t watch at least 30 minutes of TV Monday through Friday. On Saturday, though, he could watch up to 3 hours so he LOVES Saturdays. This picture was taken during the week because he’s wearing his school uniform.

Enjoying lollipops in the backyard. Both have recently started to like wearing hats.
